Am I being paranoid?? I have a kin on main vine. It is 102cc at 28 days and I still have a few back ups on side vines just in case. Should I cut the cord on these little guys or what???? Please be bluntly honest!!!!

Joe, its always tough to cull but with one already at 102 circ your doing well enough. How big and how many backups do you have? Is it your only plant? If so and your goal is to have a carver for Halloween or something to take to weightoff...then going all in sets you up for dis-appointment.

I always keep backups or regulator pumpkins on side vines just in case...but when the chosen pumpkin is 50" or more in circ...then I start making my culls down to the 1 !

I'm all in down to 1 on one plant and on the 1725 Harp I'm afraid to get rid of the 2 other regulators cause it is performing so well right now.

Tough call...depends on your goals and circumstances. A few other locals here grow 2 on the plants and regularly have 300-500 lb pumpkins for carving time.

I lost one at 82 inches this year. I'd be sure to have one or two basketball size extras if I had that luxury. I don't believe pumpkins of that size take much weight away from your main one.

Just to answer a few questions!! I only have one plant and my goal is to grow 1 big kin. My side kick pumpkis are only 7 to 10 days old, so no; I don't think they are taking up too much juice from the big fella!!Since I posted this 2 days ago I gaine 6cc (25 pounds a day) That might not sound great to some you guys but it is way ahead of my personol best!! Thanks for the input. I culled 2 tonight and just have one back up now!!!
