When will reasonable gun law be enacted? I see Rep. Louie Gohmert(R-Texas) solution was to arm the entire audience. That way if someone get out of hand he/she could be taken down. I'm amazed no one sees that returning to the wild wild west days is a foolish idea. We are headed down a road that leads to exactly what is happening in the middle east. It will be the right of anyone to bear arms meaning what? Carry a bomb? The paranoid delusional idea that Uncle Sam is coming for you and your guns has got to stop.

REASONABLE gun law Scott? It has been tried many times throughout history and never proven to work. We have to acknowledge that firearms will always exist, that firearms are the mark of a truly free society, and that nut cases will be forever present in ANY society. We can NEVER eliminate events such as this, whether they be committed with firearms, bombs, knives, clubs, etc.

kudos joe, some people do not understand that the more gun laws that restrict the puplic from owning their own firearms, will only mean that more innocent people will be killed, if someone wants to kill, they will find a way to do it, i remember a few years ago a guy wanted to kill himself and take as many people with him as he could, well he crossed the center lane in traffic and hit a shool bus head on. he killed 7 children all under the age of 10 going to school. could anyone prevent this with some kind of law to prevent this looney from wanting to die? there are more people in this world now, so we will all here about this kind of disaster more often now, oh the guy that killed the kids lived ,our system deemed him crazy, now we are paying for his recovery! we just have to deal with what life throws at us,.

The real power in a true Democracy is the right to vote. No matter who's buying influence in Washington or lobbing Congress to write laws that rig the tax code or that give certain groups of people and corporations undo influence. Way too many Americans sit on their asses come election day. If every American would come out and vote then just maybe that special interest strangle hold on Washington would go away. So all I ask is before you turn to your second amendment rights like Sharon Angle who was running for the Senate suggested. And ya wonder where these whackos get their mass murder rampage ideas from. IE Sharon Angle! VOTE VOTE VOTE and help to get out the VOTE.

I don't know if I'm disagreeing with what your saying Scott but I am a person who believes in concealed carry & concealed carry everywhere with the only exception being possibly schools, churches of all denominations and day cares. And even with those facilities I believe a gun should be under lock & key just incase.
But in this instance most of the movie house could have been packing & it wouldn't have mattered because he was wearing over $4000 in complete body armour covering everything from his shins to throat, head and everything in between .

and reasonable gun laws will never work. As a example I'll use drugs, drugs are illegal but it's easier to get medication from a "non" doctor than a doctor. Banning something or trying to strongly regulate it only makes the situation worse.

no, that's taking it the extreme to prove a point. I agree with some of the gun laws, a waiting period to make sure your not a criminal..good. Unlike some I am for a ban on fully automatic weapons ( if your not good enough to get it in a couple of shots put the gun down).
Here's the main problem,now I don't know you and can't say what your beliefs are but I'm guessing they aren't 100% with the NRA. The NRA side will express the point with extremes to make those against them look goofy & with the same vile those against the NRA will do the same with extremes " like your biggest gun wins statement". When in reality both sides have valued points BUT it will never move foward because the minute it does it will become political & then it goes back to square one. I mean come on, how long has this fight been going on? it wont stop & thus criminal and extremely sad acts like Friday will continue. Friday Obama & Romney did the right thing & didn't make it political which was a nice change of pace but we all know once the dust settles from this it will become political & that gets us nowhere.

I'm a woman and have my CCW.

I carry a Glock 19 Gen 2 in a holster in the small of my back.
Having a friend who is a federal marshal has greatly assisted me in target practice as well as running the fed's Good guy/Bad Guy course many times.

Colorado was a tragedy but any attempts at more restrictive gun laws will do nothing but inflame some already red hot embers burning concerning what's happening in this country currently.
The only gun owner I'm responsible for is myself no one else.

I agree with you Pap.
At 46 I have seen society degenerate into something I really don't recognize any longer.

As a woman I'm only as vulnerable in public as I choose to be.

With that said leaps of faith have to still be taken when you walk into a theater, a mall or any venue where something like this could occur.

I say live your life as always but be proactive and stay prepared.

I have a conceal carry permit and I carry often to protect myself as well a my family. I dont think more gun laws are in order because criminals dont care about that. Every law abiding citizen deservrs to protect themselves. People usually think twice when they know a home has a gun owner there. This murderer needs to face the families of his victims. To often our judicial system seem to hide the faces of the victims from everyone. If people could see this then maybe they'd open their eyes. Here in R.I. Well over half of the population I in favor of the death penalty however our liberal government says no. I often ask myself, what does it take for people to get mad and deal with thesr issues instead of burying their heads.
