I use 2 litre pop bottles filled with water and empty 5 gallon pails tipped on their side.I only cut tap roots as I need to as the kin gets bigger to avoid stem pulling!!! Good luck and be creative!!!

Cut tap roots around the fruit and raise the vine and put stryofoam under the vine as well as the pumpkin to the Vine. I do this over the coarse of a few days and in hot weather when the vine is more plyable. I also continue doing this for the life of the fruit. Usually I find that if I begin early. I have no issues with stem stress or stem splits. Better to do it when the fruits young rather then waiting till it gets larger and you have bigger issues to deal with.

If ya wanna see what we use go to our 2011 diary I posted step by step instructions on how we set it up....used it for years and seems to work great...it is proactive and always keeps upward stress on the vine allowing for the fruit to grow toward it... Diary is "carlson" year 2011...entries 21 thru 31 I do believe.. let me know what ya think DAN

dans set up works i do kinda the same thing i use pantyhose tied around vine loose then use zip ties in a chain gang style and just zip them as needed just dont ever run a brace from side to side on your shade structure and strap to it i had a big wind storm that pulled one of my t-post and that pulled stem and cracked it
