I've never set a fruit this late but was forced to do to aborts, can a monster still be grown on such a late pollination for oct weightoff? Dave

My favorite of all time, the 1059 Vincent McGill, was pollinated July 9th. The 1794 Pugh was pollinated 07/05, and the 1521 Razo says 7/15 on AGGC. I'm sure there are many others, really just depends on weighoff date.

Hey Dave.My 1144 was poll on july17 and my 1280 was poll on july11 and i have always had serious wind damage in early sept and lost out on a min of 200lbs if the plant was still fairly healthy so go get it!!

I always try for the first 2 weeks in July with good results. I don't take them to shows. Just grow for fun so I don't have any pressure on me for a weighoff date.

I sure hope so Dave, the contenders here were pollinated on July 4th and 12th on one plant and July 11th and 14th on the other plant.
A good rest of July, all of August and September gives you day 80 days...plenty of time!!

Thanks, I had a good one growing pollinated june 21st but a coon had its fun with it, she measured 76" day 20 :-(, also had another one set on 1566 Rodonis June 21st, but it stopped growing, then re started, real small D 20 and has pretty much been at crawl for last couple of days, so i set one 26 ft out on 1566 Rodonis July 12 last chance at a descent kin. Lets hope i can get that 1000 Lber im after :-) Dave, Tom am i'll be setting last fruit on 1266 at 22ft on main its a small plant around 180 sqft total we will see what she puts out. this plant was 400 sqft but i think coons had mating going on before they chewed into kin, patch was full of holes and prints all over the dam place they chewed blossom end right off kin and it was deep they overturned a bunch of vines, by time i was done pulling kin cutting back all broken vines it left me with very small plant.... If Longmontpete can do it ... well I will try as well LOL Dave

We are in a worse situation. We might have 1 pollination so far. Everything has been aborting in 90-100 temps, and the heat is on for at least another week. Late pollinations seem to start growing faster due to the larger plant to push it. The problem is that they are more likely to blow up from growing too fast.

The weather here is humid and keeping pollinations fresh has been difficult...

dave to answer your question about the possibility of growing a large pumpkin pollinated july 12th? yes, you just need decent weather thru sept and the potential is there. a later weigh-off is also in order if thats possible in your area. pap
