had any luck getting a fruit set on a pumpkin plant that had under developed males with no pollen. i just opened my first male flowers on my 1610 lieber that would have opened tomorrow and found under developed males that will most likely have no pollen in the morning. i am thinking of addi
ng some soluble phosphorus. plant is doing great and has 15 foot main. and is odd because first female opened yesterday at 12 feet and was perfect 5 lober and first male opened today? i am open to suggestions

what you're describing sounds like a sterile plant. If that's the case, the females don't make it bigger than a cantaloupe in my experience, although I have heard of one going 400# or so before going soft.

thats what i was thinking when i cracked open the males this evening in hope to pollinate a 1059 tomorrow. i had a sterile 1610 lieber last year with similar under developed males. biggest pumpkin maybe got to 10lbs then aborted. the males were more under developed than this year and and seemed to get more developed as the year went on but never produced pollen. i was just looking for a little hope but might not find any. i might plant a clone in the corner of the patch for genetics and eventually pull the most likely sterile plant.
