I have a strange plant that has five mains and yes I know that there is supposed to be only one main but this plant is unique. When it germinated at ground level there were two vines that came out of the ground next to each other, one formed an upside down T at ground level with a vine that came off the middle at 90 degrees apart while the middle section grew vertically for about four inches then another vine originated facing the rear. The other vine that originated out of the ground grew conventionally but has some sections of flat vines in it. All five of these "main" vines are much larger than the others and are very slow growing, maybe 2-3 inches a day while my secondaries are growing at 18 - 24 inches a day. I have probably 40-50 secondary vines which is a real job to keep from overcrowding. This plant is producing tons of flowers so pollinating has not been an issue. Pumpkin growth is near the 1200 lb mark. If I terminated all of my secondary vines ( I have close to 600 sq ft. will it make pumpkin growth speed up?
