I don't know if this has ever been mentioned, but after seeing Wiz's post it got me thinking. Do any individual weigh offs hold a prize for largest pumpkin grown off an older seed, say 8 year old minimum? I know we're all on the quest for 2000lbs, but there is something about different AG categories that intrigues me. I know the MGPG is offering a prize for largest pumpkin grown off a Michigan seed, thought it was a great idea. Anywise, back to germination time..

Sounds like a great idea, I say we start this contest right here! As a coincidence, I've got an 8-year old 1142 Van Kooten going in the ground real soon.

I've got an 854 Emmons 97 hanging around. Maybe next year if it still germinates.

I've got a couple older ones myself, it just seems like extra incentive would be a great way to get them planted. Would definently be interesting to see the weights, shapes, colors etc.

I grow a 846.5Calai99 this year (it germinated after 3-4 days) and I hope to get a big "and orange" pumpkin from this great seed.
