The onions in my garden have yet to seed out, but I have noticed some of my neighbors have. These onions were planted in the early winter and are for food, not competition. Is there a way to prevent them from starting to produce seed and does it even matter?

Thanks for the help.

Some onions are different..Long day or Short Day...ones like Egyptian or running onions are intended to seed.

I love walking onions in the spring! collect the sets in the fall and plant them on a 1" grid for the best green onions in the spring.
