I have a seed that hasnt came up yet and its been over a week. Its really the first one thats ever done this to me and I really wanted to grow this one. So I pulled it up and it looks the same as the day I planted it. Is it a dud or is there anything I can do to get it going? I usually never file or soak, I just get good soil and a grow light and warmth and they always come up. Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks.

Many factors are to blame. Are the seeds the same seed? What temperature do you have them at? Is the soil to moist? I had a bunch of seeds that did well while others of the same seed didn't do well. Ia suspect that the seeds need to be at a higher temperature for the particular seeds that I'm planting. I know the frustration with all of this. Cojoe is right if you can squeeze the seed and yellow goo sguirts out then its rotting and no longer viable. It will also have a strong stench.

No stinky liquid. It is a different seed then the others. A much larger thicker one also. Temps at 75-80.

Imo...i would say that seed may require more heat. Some seeds may require more heat to get started. If the seeds stay there longer they may pop up or they may rot. I would try to up the temps in your chamber to get em started.

I had the same problem. I took the seed out and soaked for an hour. I had a root the next day. I used the paper towel and bag method and put on top of freezer. Of course I am an amateur. 100% this year. I will soak from now on.
