I started 2 seeds at the same time. One sprouted in 3 days and the other one took 7 days. Does this start make a differance on how plant will do later on??

Joe, are they the same seed? If not, IMO absolutely not. Days to germinate shouldn't have anything to do with over all plant vigor later on.

joe
seven days to germinate is a very long time. not knowing your methods though makes it difficult to comment on.(some system without constant heat, moisture, etc, could take a long time) when given a choice of three of the same seed?? i would always prefer the seedling that displays the best looks and fastest growth(that first true leaf)
when starting different seeds? to many variables to consider.some proven seeds are known slow germinators while others are faster with huge seed leaves.----sometimes the crappy looking ones develope great pumpkins.tough call to make.
if its a proven seed and takes 7 days to germinate i would not be as concerned as i would with an unknown.at least the proven seed has some history to go by.
