If you bid you need to follow through, If you have no intentions of paying, STAY AWAY from the auctions.

I can't understand how someone patiently waits for the auction time to come and bid or post within the final seconds only to not follow through.

Then when the auction is over, other clubs send me an email saying watch out because this guy never paid us.

I will post all non compliant bidders by name.

Hey, Iceman. Ever hear of defamation of character? You could end up losing the farm to one of these guys if you call him or her out and then lose after a prolonged court battle. I don't think lawyers are taking seeds in return for services, not in the US anyway. Maybe you could just post the ones in the US and have a friend in the US post those elsewhere. It is harder to take action across geographic boundaries. Or, get someone without a farm to post. lol. (How many acres did you say you had?) Marv

Agree fully -- Maybe the clubs could each put together a list of bidders that did not follow through and have a Private thread on the forum or elsewhere that the info could be shared with the other clubs.

Or perhaps there should be a deposit requirement set up for bidding at the auctions (most other auctions require some sort of credit line before participating) and include some sort of payment agreement for participating in the auction that if you bid and do not contact afterward to arrange final payment on a timely basis the lot will be offered to the next highest bidder at their bid price until a bidder is found that pays for the lot -- and then the difference between that payment and the non paying bidders bid price is charged to that pre-approved line of credit along with an extra Fee to cover the cost of implementing such a program.

That sucks. Maybe a ignore button for anyone that has not paid a club so they can't bid. Until there name has cleared. Plus you should state when the payment must be paid by or they will be put on a public deadbeat list.

I know this won't help this time Eddy & it might be already done & I just do not pay attention.
But what if every club started putting in the rules of each of their auctions that the winning bidder has 72 hours to contact the club holding the auction or forfeit their bid to the next highest bidder.
If everyone holding a auction started doing this it would become common knowledge & easier to handle.

Defamation of character, They bid, they don't pay, they already defamed their own character.
My bad for not posting a time frame, But come on!!!!!!!!!!

Marv, it would not be 'defamation of character' if Eddy posted the lot number, 'who' was the winning bidder and 'who' didn't pay. There's no defamation there at all.

Seriously Marv, Defamation of character? It's not even close. Store owners have been displaying rubber cheques for years. Not saying I'm for it or against it, but please...

Or just word it nicely, these people have not paid, then the list. no defamation.

I doubt it's the common usernames on bp that are not paying, and I'm sure it's easy to create a new username for someone to continue doing the same thing. What if it took x amount of posts or activity before an individual could join auctions, my guess is you would see non paying bidders decrease. Or better yet what if auctions took place in an area within the premium membership boards?

I forget who it is that keeps a list of auction winner dead beats, but there is a list available.

Maybe Ken D. can help with this?

Eddy, maybe just post what Lots haven't been claimed and bid amount and see who steps up? This auction is all about BP and the outstanding Site Ken has provided us. The generosity and support of growers all over has really blown me away on this one! You've put too much effort into this to sweat the knuckleheads...grab a Molson and see what happens next!

pre registering for auctions or holding the auction in a premium board area would limit the availability of seeds. alot of new growers would be left out, fewer bidders would show up, prices may fall even more....and you still may have the occasional deadbeat. If they don't respond in 72 hours and 3 attemts to contact them, repost the seed for new bids or contact the 2nd place bidder. Then you aren't limiting new growers who haven't done anything wrong.

It would be really hard to prove in court defamation of character, espically when THE statements are true.
Just Sayin.

Email me Eddy, I think I, and 4 other clubs have the exact same person your talking about.

As the saying goes "IT IS WHAT IT IS". As long as auctions or any type sales are held the risk will always be there for the unhonorable to bask in their own misery.

Who know what promps these nitwits to do this.
I agree with Eddy. He put tons and tons of work into helping raise funding that directly benefist us all - (BP.COM). so post away Eddy expose them for all they are worth.

Its a shame but there will always be those thinking they can hide behind their computers with no consequence.

Everyone here just seems to take things too seriously. Nobody can take a joke. People seem quick to pounce upon one another. Some do it without even reading all the posts so as to understand the flow of things. Eddy, you should do whatever you want with these people. Do you really have their names or are they hiding behind something they made up? Tell us all who they are and have them given the boot from BP. Just do it. There will be no consequences or at least none worth considering. Some of the comments in this thread are suprising. It seems some people can write but cannot read. How can that be?

No, I don't think so Marv. If your post was in jest then about twenty of us missed it. No worries though, you're still a good guy and none of this is personal. In a few weeks when we are all out getting that early burn, all of this will be forgotten.

Just ban non payers from weigh offs. Not much point in growing the big one, to have it disqualified.

Up a Creek, I sorta (after re-reading this whole thing several times), don't get it??? 1st post you threaten folks, and last post you say we take things (posts) too seriously?
I am curious...if you want folks to get along, on this site, why would you make the original "defamation of charachter" post? I am sure that Ken D., if needed has the records of who bid how much!!! I, personally hope that after due dilligence, awl non payers are put up!!! Peace, Wayne
