I just bought the Sthil 450 which is quite a bit higher than these. I've had good products from Sthil in the past.

Ben thats good for applying granulars or dust on small areas. these others are for saving a LOT of time when applying liquid fungicides or ferts over 3000+ sq ft

Griz, I spent hours on the internet researching which mister-blower to purchase and decided on the Stihl because of customer reviews which reported that the cheaper brands tended to break down after a couple of years.

Stihl is the way to go, even though they are pricey.

That is why I bought it. I've had one of their chainsaws and it was the best.

Paul,
We used that one last year. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=150972

Out of the box, it puts out too much product unless you really restrict the tubing. It has a ball valve built into the tube that will completely shut it off, but contantly messing with the ball valve to get it applying the correct amount when turning it back on was a pain.

So I made my own "valve" to squeeze the tubing shut with a block of wood and a thumb screw. I set it to the way I wanted it and it stays there. I can spray the side of my shed with water from 40 ft away, getting it totally wet without run off and if the sun is out it is applied lightly enough it will dry in 15-20 seconds.

Then we just use the ball valve to completely shut off or turn on.

It also came with differnt blower hose for liquid and solid. I only used it as liquid (you have to take the tank off to switch back and forth) so I put the blower hoses together to make them longer, so we didnt have to bend over to get up under the leaves really well.

With 6 gallons in it, it is kind of heavy, but Teresa handled it ok last year, I just made a spot on the bench that it locks into and wont slide around, for her to fill it, start it, back up to it, squat 4 inches or so and stand up.

The only problems we had with the machine was the feed through for the tubing coming out of the tank came broken. It took me 3 times to get one that didnt arrive broken. It worked through the season for Teresa but stopped running right at the end. I looked at it when I was home and found it was normal maintenance stuff. The air filter was plugged and the carb bowl had some crap in it. I got it running again and she will be using it again this year.

You can go over and Teresa will show you it and even let you try it if you want.

Croley Bend I bought one last year and had the same problem as cntryboy with it arriving with the broken part where the tube comes out of the tank. The second one they sent was great and worked like a charm all season. Don't buy the Hudson though, its the same as the one from MisterDuster except you are paying a few hundred bucks extra for the Hudson Sticker. I paid $239 from misterduster.com

Ok, I believe that the one. Hopefully it wont arrive broke, but I will be sure to check it out when it arrives. I really dont need a sticker that says Hudson..lol Thanks for the input. Cecil you have a pic of your homemade turn off?

I just read this, sorry, no I don't. I'll get Teresa to take some but without taking it apart I don't know if you can tell how it works. Anything that will mash the hose shut and hold it without moving will work, could probably kink it and use a tie wrap to get it small enough, you never really have to change it once it is set the way you like it. I will try to draw something and post in my diary.
