so does an early cover crop get the myco going in the soil? do we have a conclusive time frame to establish the myco in the soil?
do we have any thoughts if a spring cover crop/myco combo gets you off to a better start than just the myco already in your soil from years past?
I realize there might not be many "known knowns" here, but would be interested to hear what people think and what they are trying this year.

I think it dependZ on what one wantZ to do....Peaceful Valley (Organic.com) haZ many different mixes...The one article talked about using a good base that associates with the Mycho,,bahiagrass....many otherZ also talk about sudan and winter rye... I used wRye aZ I already had it...so in it went...picZ to come...itZ already coming up in the warmer spotZ... after our 80 degree weekend....I may have a jungle.. It iZ then when Ill hit it with more soluable mycho since the roots are so close to the surface right now.... I gotta go to Chigaco...mid April so it gets turned under...then...
I do want to try the vermiculite in the bagZ.....see whatZ up

Rye Grass Seed is becoming a popular substrate for those interested in researching the growth of various forms of sclerotia. Sclerotia, when grown, is a dense mass of branched hyphae, as in certain fungi, that contain stored food and are capable of remaining dormant for long periods. The sclerotia's popularity may be due to its ability to produces a greater mass with less water content.

Here is a helpful chart from the Iowa NRCS websice for picking out cover crops that work with mico: ftp://ftp-fc.sc.egov.usda.gov/IA/technical/CCCv1_2.pdf It gives lots of information on quite a few cover crops. It is geaqred mainly for production agriculture, but pumpkin growers can benefit from it too.
