heres my honest opinion on the below subjects/whats yours?
bp and the gpc---- two great organizations that so many of us need to be thankfull for.truely the hubs that keep our hobby rolling. the all volunteer gpc staff deserves our respect and admiration for many hrs of planning and hard work. ditto to ken as well. where would the hobby focus be for many of you without this site? best grower in the world? ---- for many that opinion changes each and every october however, over the long haul ? id put my money on a guy from pa known as quinn.followed closely behind by about two dozen other growers from the west to the east coast and canada as well.you know who you are. selling seeds ---- people can do as they wish with their seeds. its not any of our business. seed auctions ---- without them? the smaller clubs would never survive.i will admit though that the longer the auction season goes on? the bids get smaller and smaller. bubble packs ---- again its a personal thing. you do with your seeds as you see fit.some cant be bothered filling bubbles why others look at it as a compliment to the hobby/grower. gpc vegas seminar ---- a bold move taken the fact they were established already piggy backing with the niagara seminar however,i salute them for having an adventurous spirit and for bringing the seminar to a new venue.should be a great spot for many years to come. 2,000 lbs in 2012 ? ---- possible but i still think we are a season or two away. never say never though.if its gonna happen? i hope its me --lol gpc hall of fame ---- id like to see two hof inducties each year because presently we have to many good candidates to keep it at one per year. just my feeling. we created the hof award to recognize individual accomplishments but it would seem each year with only only one candidate? to many deserving growers are left out.

Ditto on All Of The Above.
I am grateful for fellow growers, HH's who share their knowledge, and the volunteers who make the weigh-offs, seminars, and this website happen. Thank You!

question regarding a 2000lb pumpkin. i did a quick calculation and divided 2000 by 90 days and got 22.2lbs per day. obviously a baby kin cant gain that, but what is the ideal growth curve?
eg... first week a pound or 2 a day, then upwards. day 70.... say 40 lbs? has anyone done a growth curve shown in pounds per day over the full cycle?
would be interesting to know.

Good words Dick. One last thing. Thanks to all the growers who take the time & efforts to take a leading role in their local & regional clubs. These people are the backbone of our hobby.

My opinion on some of these matters are.... 1. There are some people that have issues with the GPC, they may be decent people but the constant complaining and personal attacks have gotten out of hand, If you have a big issue take it to the person in person or call them on the phone and deal with it as adults. Grudges and giving the "cold shoulder" is childish. 2.Selling seeds...I think if you start selling seeds you take away from smaller clubs also if you make a living from selling seeds in my opinion, you stop becoming a grower and you become a buisness.
This hobby runs on the generosity of the growers of the clubs the club directors. The local weigh offs that draw newer growers to the hobby as well as growers getting out there and spreading their seeds and their knowledge to newer growers. The Hall of Fame....Not really sure how I feel about that.....Thats a little out of my hands and scope of knowledge....I think the 2,000 lbs barrier will be broken by a grower in R.I. from a patch far far away.........................

If it wasn't for BP, I would still be growing footballs like Macivo said. Hopefully this year I'll attend a GPC weighoff "and" contribute. Was planning on it last year, but my son decided to make hi grand entrance to the world 3 days before.

We all have opinions, and convictions about them. And are passionate people. Therefor we bite. So I think we will all never think the same. Thank God for that. I would hate to see everyone like me. It does amazes me that a common love of growing could bring so many different people together at all.
