I founded the GWG so there could be prize money,nice picture holding plaques.I noticed Chris Kent received very little for his World Record 291.So I formed this group a 4 man committee and started my own club.Phil Hunt gave me the advice on doing this & I preceded.We have a great Club,With over 6 thousand dollars raised this year its doing great.I started growing for fun & prize's,yep call me a dirty rat I like prize's.lol I dont like committees, & arguing on how the money is spent.With that being said I'm giving up my seat on the GWG committe so I can go have fun.I have discussed this with Chris,they say at this point they will bring on 2 more members on committee,most likely a Canadian & a Rebel to make it more Wold wide.Im truly proud of the Club I founded,just not wired for politics.I hope everyone grows a 300 lb melon this year 1 lb. smaller then mine.They will be upset that I posted this.I dont know Why?Everythings hush hush!LOL "This town needs a Enema"LOL

Hey Mark, you've done a great job with the GWG & I was pleased to be able to help you with some suggestions & advise. Your love for the hobby & your drive to be the best you can is a great benefit to the club & it would be a shame to see you step down. It's a tough job on the the executive, as you just can't please everyone. Just try to do what you feel the majority of the members want.

Members must remember that this is a new club & it takes time to work out the bugs. Suggestions are welcomed, but they are only suggestions & the club can only do so much with what they have. My suggestion to the growers/members is to be patient & give the executive some time & you'll see how great this club can become in a year or two.

The GWG has over 100 members in 2 years. That's pretty impressive. Thanks for all that you've done for us melon heads. Good luck this season.

Mark,

I'm sorry it's come to this. You've put a tremendous amount of time, effort into the club launch, your enthusiasm for progress in the club has created issues for you that has led to this. You have my respect for all your effort at moving the club forward, you've brought in sponsors,spent your own money to support the club objectives and promote the hobby of growing these giants. Often times people are quick to be critical but few are willing to put the amount of time and money that you have into moving an organization forward. It was a lot of work so I thank you for everything you've invested in bringing the club along. Grow em big Mark!

Thanks for everything you've done so far. Early days of a club are 'difficult', 'interesting' and um...

I *am* a Rebel but I decline taking a seat, gotta be a couple more good peoples that will step up. My plate is full enough here with local stuff.

Mark one thing I learned over the years as President of a club is that when I read comments that pissed me off I held back and calmed down before I returned a message or replied. The one downfall or email or posting on a board is that alot of the times the context of what was meant is truly not understood by the reader. So now I never reply without a little time to cool down.

Thanks Kirk none of this was done in anger or Knee jerk action!I thought this over for a day even called a couple folks & hashed it out.After 3 months of my every move shot down or met with negativity.The final straw was I couldn't purchase a gift card for Chris,after I, the BIG I here folks, raised well over 1000.00$ in Sponsors for Club.Im confident our 2 new members on committee will be better qualified on how to deal with this type of situation.As Popeye once said"I am What I am and thats all that I am"I hope the members push for a experienced officer.I dont think they should pick the two newbies it should be the Club that picks these guys or gals.

I love the girls at the beginning dancing at top of screen!Classic, Its all good folks These are normal growing pains for a great Club.We will all be the better for it in the end.Your just seeing whats going on instead of it hidden from you.
