Details have yet to be worked out with the Pumpkin Show weighoff committee, but they are very willing to give it a go.

Tuesday is kick-off day for the Pumpkin Show, which draws roughly 500,000 visitors in four days, and the SOGPG's interim officers are moving forward to hopefully create an attractive enough purse and draw some very large pumpkins.

Although Tuesday is not the BEST day to have a weighoff, it was the only day it could be arranged at the Pumpkin Show.

Many have complained for years about the Pumpkin Show weighoff's 21-mile rule and desire to have it opened up to anyone. Well, here's your chance. As the Circleville weighoff has always been on the third Wednesday in October, Tuesday shouldn't be much of a difference.

The traditional Wednesday locals-only weighoff will continue unchanged. What is happening here is a simple relocation of the SOGPG's weighoff to Circleville. We hope that this will satisfy EVERYONE and add a new dimension to the Pumpkin Show by attracting some world class pumpkins in numbers.

Our tradtional SOGPG weighoff weekend in October was taken by the OVGPG and we feel this is the best move to make. Details will be announced as they are worked out. What I CAN tell you now is we will strive to make this the best weighoff it can be.

certainly a great club building move for your organizatiion. what better place in ohio to hold a weigh-off than at circleville?
with a audience and all the attractions already in place? i would think a move to circleville is a win-win for both parties.

Why would someone take your traditional weighoff? Don't some groups have weighoffs on the same day. I did a search for your pumpkin festival and it looks cool. I hope you have a awesome weighoff.

The OVGPG also felt the need to make changes and in no way is the SOGPG opposed to them. We consider the OVGPG our sister group and it looks like the changes both groups are making will be beneficial to both.

Okay thanks for explaining. After reading the website for the festival in circleville I see it's over a century old. I think it's awesome you guys have a weighoff just for your area thats over a hundred years old. Why ruin that , kind of like a walmart taking over a family business.

its understandable that you would not want two ohio clubs weighing off on the same day.
why you ask?
for the same reason the new england giant growers weigh-off in topsfield ma, the ct giant pumpkin growers in fairfield beach and the southern new england weigh-off in warren,rhode island are held on different weekends.so those growers who have more than one pumpkin? they can go to more than one weighoff.
it only makes scence plus, its good to travel around. see old friends and possibly make some new ones.
