to grow a pumpkin plant out of a bucket or large pot. I have grow tomato plants with drip lines. You see I have little room I was thinking growing Vertical. I know that I wont get any records. I would like to get some around 80lbs (field and AG)

I'v thought about container growing AG's. I'd use a bigger pot than a 5 gallon bucket. something closer to 15 gallons should be enough. I would train the main vine along a trough of some kind so you can root the main vine, too. you could set up a recirculating system adding the nutrient solution at the end of the trough, running back along trough to the main pot. Setting the the main pot in a basin (kiddy pool?) you could recirculate the water with a sumbersible aquarium pump. If you have the room you can even do a flag pattern with secondary troughs flowing to the main vine trough. Hydroponicly grown plants can typically produce the same as a regular plant with about 1/10th the root system, but only if the nutrient solution is closely monitored and provides everything needed in proper proportions.

It would be possible ! (BUT) Tricky ! 15 gallons or more needed , I would not try to root the main vine in the same pot as it needs at least 18 inches to come down again (BUT) it would be possible to root it in another pot , that would help with the weights going up ! But consider that sometimes the female pumpkin doesn't come until 7 feet & sometimes more feet out on the main ! It would be fun! Good luck !

I grew a 1332 wolf in a large >45 gal flower planter to use as a pollinator thsi past season. It set a single fruit but aborted at about 12#.Vine got to about 7 feet and just sat there. The problem was the root ball barely spread into the surrounding soil.
Seems the plant is stressed into setting fruit with the plant growth and small root system but shifts to abort the fruit do to the same stress.Keep it balanced and it should work.

I remember seeing in someones diary on here, that they grew a plant in a bunch of pots on a utility trailer in their driveway. Not sure what year, who it was, or what they ended up with, but its on here somewhere, with some searching you may find it.
