Taking an idea from Pap I would like to ask BP members to post here in an attempt to bring back our message boards. I ask Ken if possible to have this member cease with the petty & annoying posts becoming so prevalent on good threads. I believe the website as a whole is suffering from this classless & tiresome act, and many very knowledgable growers will cease to post in the future if this continues. For the best of BP.com & the hobby in general, thank you

I will be adding a new feature allowing you to ignore other users. I am testing it now.

If someone has been personally attacked on the message boards then they should send me a link directly to that thread via email. I will remove the thread or post and warn the offending user. ken at bigpumpkins

It is a good thing this is my second winter on BP.com. I was so proud and still am proud of this website and all the great people I have met on here. I am currently embarrassed by our behavior and hope that it has not discouraged any new people. An overwhelming amount of people on here are so great!!! It only takes a few to give us all a black eye. If you have a Rant, start a Rant thread. It is OK to Rant, do it on your own thread and keep it clean also. Leave the threads alone for people who are trying to learn something and keep your opinions clean and professional. That is all the pledge we need from the users at BP.com. We are all better than this.

Yeah it's time. I don't post on here a lot but I usually stop by 4 times a week just to see what is happening and try to pack some more info into my already overstuffed and disorganized brain. It takes a lot to rile me and truthfully I found some of certain someones posts almost comical and really left me wondering if this was just a joke but enough is enough.

Dick Wallace is probably the most respected man in this hobby and is the one HH who has always been generous with his wisdom here on BP.com. I can overlook the other ramblings but when you come on here and start disrespecting that man it is no longer a joke and is probably appropriate for a lengthy time out.

Well put Chad. That would be like someone who drives go carts showing up to a NASCAR forum and disrepecting the Pettys or Earnhardts.

The ignore feature is now in. Go to the User Settings page and give it a try.

It amazes me the lack of discipline being shown here by grown men and women. Asking Ken to protect us from ourselves, really? Like I said before back in 2008 during the presidential election on the other non pumpkin message board. There were some very nasty personal attacks made just because of ones political beliefs. I asked at the time maybe Ken should consider banning all political and religious chat because they can be toxic subjects at times. No was the response let it fly?
IMHO everybody's rights "not just someones feelings" need to be protected equally. I don't care if you're God of the pumpkin world.

With all of that being said Ken's attempt to keep everyone happy is a noble cause. I don't think the ignore feature will help those thin skinned members that thrive on arguing. But a least now Ken can say the next move will be ours even though IMHO it was always ours to begin with.

I agree with you also Scott in ideology, what had bothered me is the amount of bs posts that showed as new and in general just wasted my time. I don't think anyone wants censorship here, just the return of a semi normal message board in pumpkin related threads,, like you pointed out there is a non-pumpkin forum. I think it became a situation where the enjoyment of the site was being compromised,& like a petulant child disturbing class or a person on a cell phone in the library, I believed that change could benefit us all without taking any rights away from any individual.

Auston I was about to post a reply that was almost exactly the same. This is the place champions are taught their trade. It's important that new growers are not confused by those with dubious credentials. There were signs of confusion. This is a step in the right direction. Most of the time I would argue on side with Scott. I don't think it's anything we couldn't work out over a tasty beverage, though. It unfortunately doesn't help with misinformation though. That's why we are watching.

I have stood up for amelio a number of times because I stand up for the bullied and mentally ill. But I have been wrong in defending him and am humbled by my mistake and I apologize for offending anyone. I will try to do better. Now I vote for the compete ban of amelio and me if you see fit. Now in my defense I pledge to do better. I would love to see amelio make the same pledge. If he continues to call the group names like dinosaurs, fascist, Nazis, to compare anyone of the good people in this club to a butcher. He will poison any thread even if you ignore because others will respond to him. THE GOOD OF THE MANY MUST OUT WEIGH THE NEEDS OF A FEW.

Its a crazy world full of crazy people,I dont think you can hide or censor it.There wearing ball caps in church & drinking beverages in the now auditorium not(sanctuary). You go to the gas station & they swear at you if you take to long at the pump.they leave a four way stop two cars at a time. They drive like maniacs never taking there eyes off the phone in there hand.Facebook is about as vulgar as you can get.Why do we expect great behavior on here??I'm all for being respectful to others. Not a rational thought to think I will get it in return. Its getting crazier by the day,"Thats all I got to say about that".
