There was absolutely no reason for his comments tonight. Kudos to those who supported Gordon.

I use to go to auctions. To buy and sell. It was fun and profitable. Then storage wars come out and ruined every thing. Now hundreds are looking for storage gold. Here was always the smarta**es, poor me's, bitters, junkies, and the ones who spend there time being mad at the whole world. Some days even thou I try I will still fall is some of these categories.

Phil , Andy , Devan , Darren and to all here on Big Pumpkins:
As sitting President of The Maine Pumpkin Organization ( MePGO ) I would like to clear the air a little on the guy who calls himself maine_pumpkin
1 ) He is NOT a member of our club and does not in any way represent anything our club stands for or is about .
2) I have been questioned by several well known and respected growers around the country who have known me for a short time or for many many years about this person who calls himself maine_pumpkin and about his conduct during club seed auctions and sometimes here on BP.com message boards . I don't apologize for his actions as he is on his own , as some might call " an outsider " to our club though he lives in out state.
3) This grower claimed to have grown a 1333 pound AG in 2011 and I had been in contact with him via email after that claim to request a photo or two of it taken on the scale where ever it was weighed ( hopefully on a certified / calibrated scale ) for possible print in our fall 2011 MePGO newsletter and he replied by saying he had a few reservations about getting any publicity for his 1333 because he was not a member of MePGO . ??? I then asked him why he had not joined MePGO , at least he would not have any worry of reservations if he did I thought. I have not received a reply since November 7 .
On a final thought if any growers have traded seeds for his claimed 1333 or received any through request or offerings you are on your own to plant it and or carry on specific genetic claims .

That did catch us a bit off guard. Gordon did a good job rolling with it.

First off I need to express my anger for the most recent post you made on Bigpumpkins.com. Not only did you(and others) reply to a post that was directed personally to me,(A post that did not ask for YOUR input) you replied in such a way that was completely unprofessional and slanderous. With you being a club president I find it hard to believe that you would stoop so low and call me a liar for all to see. You are correct, I am NOT a member of your club but to use the term "Outsider" when talking about someone you don't even know is a bit harsh. You may find it odd that I don't want to join your club and that is fine. I personally find it odd that you requested photos from me (a non-member) and wanted to print them in your newsletter but would NOT accept seeds from me as a non-member. The fact that you wanted my photos to publish in your newsletter leads me to believe you had ideas of further slander, not kudos for the 1333 that I grew. There are no photos of my pumpkin on a digital scale. As I stated in my first offer of seeds on BP.com the pumpkin was weighed on a state certified bar scale used for weighing loads of grain. I weighed the pumpkin for my OWN satisfaction not for others. It was not a competition pumpkin. I know you are entitled to your own opinion but keep your nose out of other peoples business.

I understand that you have issues but why on earth try to ruin an auction run by a club?

I have plenty of pictures and many people on PB have seen them. I just don't have pictures of it on a scale.

Maine,
I was present during the auction when you made your comments and you have failed to explain why, during a club fund-raising auction, you chose to make them at that time. It was, at the very least, rude and disruptive.
You are more than welcome to sit in on our auctions and/or bid on seeds but, please, keep negative comments to yourself and let the business of raising funds continue unimpeded.
