“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their mind cannot change anything” – George Bernard Shaw

Where I changed my mind about growing AGs is a record holder told me to wait for my season. Today, growers are much more equally skilled and with good seed. It’s the weather over the course of the season that’s going to make or break us.

Let’s not spend the winter searching for Holy Grails that don’t exist and experiencing ill will towards each other because of it. Unless other record holders refute this one, there are no big secrets. Outside of what's being shared and covered.

My first year with non store bought seeds was last year and we had the worst heat I have seen in my 34 years... it can only get better for me. Well, maybe. I'm still gonna search for the grail though.

Mark Twain said "If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you always got."

So I'll continue to find new ways to improve my clay soil, work to maximize beneficial organisms, micro and macro, and share what works with those who will listen to me.

Thanks for the post, Jack.

You can't beat Mother Nature, and I will echo Luke's comments, as we've had some hella extreme weather in the MW the since 2008. Having said that, it amazes me even more when monsters are grown in parts of the country where the weather has been very poor. I think that is where skill comes in when growers know how to compensate for extreme weather.

Luck, w/good weather is certainly a part of the "success" part..., Dan, and lot's of others have certainly helped out w/ the skill parts of it!!!! Lot's of knowledge distributed here on bp.com...but Mark sorta nailed it...even w/the luck of good weather, & the skills, it ain't happenin if you don't put in the hard work!!! good weather & skills, w/out hard work still spells less than the best!!! Peace, Wayne

The big secret is finding a good mentor and sticking with the program...

I added one thing new this year..."lithovit" and the health of my plants has never been better so late in the season...

Secret..heck no...but worth trying!!
