JIM & KELSEY BRYSON BREAK WORLD RECORD
Saturday October 15th was a very rainy day at the Prince Edward County Pumpkinfest near Wellington Ontario where Jim and Kelsey Bryson of Ormstown Quebec set a new World Record for Giant Pumpkin at an amazing 1818.5 lbs! This breaks the old record of 1810 set last year by Chris Stevens of Wisconsin.
This is a sweet victory for the Bryson’s, bringing the record back to Canada after a long absence. Not since Al Eaton set the record in 2004 with his 1446 pound monster has the record be set by a Canadian. Competitive Giant Pumpkin growing has been gaining in popularity since the late Howard Dill of Windsor Nova Scotia patented his Atlantic Giant seed variety and set the world record at 459 lbs in 1980.
The Pumpkin is scheduled to make the trip on Wednesday to New York City, where it will make a Television appearance and then be displayed at the New York Botanical Gardens. Saturday it is scheduled to be sculpted by renowned giant pumpkin carver Ray Villafane.

Incase some of you have not seen any of Ray's work, check out his website at Ray Villafane.com.

He is also in a 4 part series on the food network on Sunday nights at 9:00 EST. The last part of the series is going to air this comming Sunday.

Their are a lot of great pumpkin carvers out there, but Ray is the king of fine detail. I can't wait to see what he does with 4 giants !!
