A wet and windy day in Wellington today. The weigh-off was moved to a barn on the outskirts of Wellington at the last minute (Thanks Glenn Huffman and family) so the crowd was down in numbers this year. Quite frankly it surprised those in attendance but you could tell something special was going to happen when we saw the front tires of the lifting tractor suddenly flatten out. Then after the pumpkin was on the scales the crowd went crazy. Still a few big ones to be weighed in Europe tomorrow but the Brysons have shocked the pumpkin world record. Go GVGO!

The main vine leading into the pumpkin was about 7 inches long, just before it got to the scale six inches were removed. The stem and main were enormous! Easily the biggest I have ever seen by far. Anyways after the record breaker hit the scale we measured the cut off piece of the main and found it to be about 3" thick. We put this short 6" section on the tomato scale and it weighed an incredible 1.8 pounds. It was like a piece of heavy wall thick tubing.
