With climate change coming,I'd go to Wisconsin or Southern Minnesota and buy an old abandoned dairy farm where the cows have been adding organic matter for about 50 years.

I've actually considered this lots.
There are at least a few spots to consider. Yes Napa is fantastic. Western PA is obviously fantastic. Southern MN or WI as well. RI / MA apparently is a great spot.
In the midwest if we get above normal summers those of us in the north benefit while the folks in Iowa get burned up. This year it was so hot we all got burned up.
Same with Napa. I know they've had a few cooler years and suffered as a result (not so much this year as I think we'll see Monday in HMB).
It seems the spot with the most consistently large pupkins is eastern OH or western PA. So is it the weather or the growers? I'd have to say a little of each. LOTS of good growers and perhaps the most consistently desireable weather.

Based on Kevin Marsh's success, the region of South Dakota where he lives might be a place to consider.

I think it was those winters... and the 300+ days of rain a year that I traded in for 300+ days of sunshine when I moved to colorado. yes, it was 85F and sunny for the weigh-off... the things you accidently take for granted when you live in colorado too long!
