At the time I'm posting this, Dave Stelts, 1807.5, 3# under current WR Joel Jarvis, 1486* Squash, 252# over old WR. (John Vincent upped his this year too, but..) 135 15/16 Grown by Glen and Margaret Martin, Long Gourd, almost one inch longer than Caleb Jacobus... I think onion, parsnip, and heavy carrot also had new records.

We had a tough season here in R.I. My biggest heaviest pumpkin went down to a huge rib split. It was tapping far better then last year and had a great orange look to it. Many other R.I. Growers have gone through the same issues. But I do think you'll see some really nice looking heavy pumpkins at Freriches.lot of big guns waiting to unleash!

Vineman, I like your idea of having an impartial judge at GPC sanctioned events. Maybe the GPC could create a database of "volunteer" judges that would be willing to officiate at "neighboring" events and the GPC could assign them. This could alleviate the situation of a friend having to DQ a friend or of any "perceived" personal gain when making a decision. And BTW, great job on growing this year, wish you the best, we'll all be closely watching the weigh-off results this weekend - so coordinators, please enter your results promptly :-)
