1st Saturday, in October? Is that the Dealio? Historically (is that a word), the "Original GPC" Weigh off date!!! Lot's of Slunger's will hit the skales, I am sure!!! But, is almost equally amazing, that over the years, that "Massive Slungers" are now bein dropped from Amazing places!!! 1600#er from Montana? (not sure if that is correct, but close, I hope?). 1.5K plus from Europe?
Dates have changed, as well as the size of the playing field!! One thing has not changed!!! The thrill !!! When yer efforts are recognized!!! To One & Awl!!! Grow em BIG!!!
PS...Eddy, hope it is a Marvelous Slunger!!!! Peace, Wayne

As eddy is saying,Pumpkin chatter is at feverish pitch, about world records even 2000# candidates hitting the scales this saturday. this is my favorite time of year. Of course the scales have the final say

kudos to my best buddy joe scherber. it will be an interesting weekend.so far most pumpkins going 1700 and over have eeither weighed to chart, a bit under chart or some a bit over chart.
the trick is to get something taping 1800-2000 and have it actually weigh what it tapes.so many times they are more apt to weigh under because they grow so fast on the outside. they end up with a huge cavity.
lets hope this trend gets blown away over the next couple weeks. my best to all of these growers.

We always seem to get a few bigguns & a new record.Im finding the sandbagger game gets the rumors going! Most people play the sandbagger game.

I can only say this...speaking from experience (past and present).

I know of at least 3 growers not sleeping right now that are weighing this weekend. I know of at least 3 more that won't sleep until next weekend and at least one more that won't sleep beyond next weekend....lol. And don't try to deny it!!!!

Let the games begin.

Dang if this holds true a shot at a Jacket keeps getting further and further out of reach. Well maybe not that far but I know I am planning to hopefully take some significant steps for next season. I cant wait to hear what anf if a new record will be.Good luck to the peps

The Biz went off his rocker (as you can tell by his diary) and the Wiz gave up LOL

Anyway we need to add the possibilty of a 1600 pound Squash to the mix, and that's if it goes to chart.

Like Chris said, people aren't sleeping much.

I predict 2000 pounds will fall. Keep watching!!!!!!

Oh ya if anybody had the twins 1662 Stelts and 1662 Young seeds kicking around, I'll give them a home.

Chris- I went for a long bike ride yesterday and slept very well last night. I did wake up in the morning with some new wrinkles though. I've been smiling way too much and it is causing some permanent creases. My wife is getting really tired of me walking around singing the Half Moon Bay pumpkin song..."It's a sunshine thing. Like the song we sing. Pulling the weeds, planting the seeds and you start them in the spring. And when the work's all through, you'll have the pumpkin you grew. Driving night and day, down to Half Moon Bay for a memory or two." Win or lose, record or no record, I'm having a great time!
