I've had an 11 year old and a 7 year old growing this year in my patch. I gave each a plant with the requirement that they had to come each week to prune, water, weed and fertilize them. Their mother brought them each time. My most rewarding moment was yesterday at the weigh off with 11 year old's pumpkin weighing in at 597 lbs and the 7 year old's at 494. The 11 year old stated to someone that this was the best day of his life. They were happy kids.
