Any ideas on how I can lift one around or at 500 lbs? My neighber has a small back hoe, But without a lifting ring I am unsure how how to get this pumpkin safely to the truck bed and to the scales. Thanks for any ideas.

There are tarps you can get with holes in them. Then for a 500lber all you need is 4-6 big dudes.

You and 3 friends can lift it no problem. fold a large tarp over several times and you should be good.

You can put car ramps (the trailer kind not the change your oil or dink with brakes ones) to your pickup backend, take a sheet of 1" plywood if you don't have the ramps, lay a couple of blankets down and ROLL it up the ramp into the pickup. Add your decked pallet in there and pad it and make sure you get enough padding for the transition, and about 4 hearty people can roll it in. At the weighoff they will have forklift and lift ring.... yes back pickup right up to the loading. If not able to do that, get a big tarp and fold over a few times and use about five guys to lift it up. Again put a decked pallet down so the weighoff crew can use that to move it.

i had one 566lbs and used three rachet straps. i took one layed it on bottom like you would a lift ring rope and tightened it so it wouldnt slip over, then hung log chain above pumpkin with loader and made a loop then made an x over pumpkin through the loop with other two straps connecting them to the strap on bottom and tightened them so they had equal pressure on pumpkin. lifted and loaded. worked pretty good

milford, CT,

Jabronitc..wrap under the pumpkin with one of those 6x6 or 7x7 red lifting tarp...then interlace a 3/4 inch rope through the hand holes..eventually leaving a loop in the middle to hook to the Back Hoe..Then Lift it....We did a 730 lbs like that last week and it worked just fine...Mark

Yeah, I've used the 7x7ft red lifting tarp for the past 2 years to carry the pumpkin over my garage as the pumpkin is usually too wide for the side gate. Heres a pic.

We did the same last year for my 763 no probs. This year small pumpkin so it will sadly actually fit through the side gate! :(
