I have about a 2 foot long section of main vine that is brown and mushy, which connects to my 100 pound pumpkin. The bad part of the vine is about 3 1/2 foot away from the stump.. question is, is this the end of my season or can i still keep it on the vine and get little bit out of it?

It might be the end, but for anybody to know without pics or seeing it first hand isn't possible. I had people tell me from one pic that my 1059 was aborting from a burn and now it is 500 pounds.

Depending on how rotten the vine is, it can still do some of it's job. I just wouldn't let it get to the stem.

I'm not advising this, but on my 1101, it got bad rot so I cut open the vine running the length of the vine and cleaned out most of the brown stuff. It seemed to like the air and has at least kept the pumpkin alive for the past couple weeks, but with very limited growth.

Do you have vine after the pumpkin? If so, that should keep supplying energy too as longs as it's burried.

ok picture this.. the stump..go out about 4 ft, and there is a brown wet mushy stem. then after that its still green to the pumpkin and then past the pumpkin with healthy leaves. the only leaves i have are past the pumpkin. rest of them died off. I would assume that its the end. but I ask for the sake of the green healthy leaves pass the pumpkin.

Couldn't you just cut off that bad section of the main vine and let the good section with secondaries feed the pumpkin. The bad section isn't doing any good now anyways.

if i did that.. that would terminate the pumpkin. I think i'm just gonna end the season and settle with around a 100 pound pumpkin. I just went and looked at it again and there was some of those bugs in it. Cant complain! Hey last year I only had a 48lbs pumpkin. this year i doubled that. call it a win and get some carving ideas goin for October. =) THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED ME THIS YEAR AND GAVE ME ADVISE! Esp Smallmouth Luke! Dude u are a trooper thats for sure. Now its time to focus on fishin and deer season. Good luck to those who weigh in!
