I hit a good bump in he road and my pumpkin stem falls off on the way to the fair. Do you have to have a stem to compete in the competition. Has anyone brought a pumpkin to the fair without a stem. Or is it a no no.

As long as there are no holes through to the cavity or major soft spots you should be good. Unless there is a site specific rule that would disqualify you.

No Stem No Problem as long as it is a sound pumpkin. To much vine they will trim it...Novice pumpkin pickers will try to pick it up by the stem

In 2007 Joe Jutras had a 1385 whos stems he lost to rot a week or two before the weigh-off. He had to remove the stem but the pumpkin was still legal. I think everybody knows of the 1385 now adays.

my stem fell of once going to a weigh-off.i found it under the seat the next day.

If there is no hole to the cavity we'd accept a stemless one.
