This is my first year growing giant pumpkins. I have three the biggest is about 400 lbs. I know I stand no chance of winning but I would love to enter in the Big E just for the expirience and meet some others who grow as well. I know no one else who does this but I am completely obsessed and can't wait for next year. Would it just be totally embarrassing with a 400 pounder or should I go ahead?

Absolutely, you should go. It is a great opportunity to meet others, learn tricks and start friendships. Who knows, maybe you'll meet someone who will swap pollen with you next year. Just go!

DEFINITELY go. You will meet some great people, see some great pumpkins, make new friends, and get a start on next season.

Entry deadline for the Big E was August 31. To be eligble for the $10,000 prize at Topsfield you need to pre reg before Sept 19th but you can still just show up and enter. Not sure about the Big E and being late.

Definately, But you did have to pre register. there were 16 pumpkins there from 309 lbs to 1254 lbs last year. It was my first time, great time and you get to meet other growers. I would still go even if you cant enter. I went to 6 or 7 weighoffs 5 with entries, from 500lbs to 968lbs. All great times. See you there.

My first was 278. Go to the weigh-off and talk to alot of people, get advise and get to know people in your local area. This will help you in the future.
Good luck, Martin
