I am only growing two plants in this, my first year. On one plant, the leaves on the vines before the pumpkin are looking very worn out, possibly showing some signs of downy mildew despite my best efforts to spray regularly to prevent such issues. The other plant is still looking comparatively healthy. Would it be wise to prune off the shabby, possibly diseased leaves (ethylene gas production) or hope they are still photosynthesizing and contributing to some very slow weight gains?

Hi sorry nobody got back to you. In my patch they stay on unless I am concerned about a disease that can spread thru the plant. I don't worry about airborne spores as long as a spray program is maintained.
