I saw an article in the paper from this past weekend. It said that Travis Gienger from Wisconsin has a possible state record growing...so much for sandbagging by him. The article was well written and mentions the GPC. It also said his pumpkin was growing on a 1200+ sq/ft plant!! I've talked to a few other people who have some big ones growing and have seen one big one in person. I'm sworn to secrecy, but there are big ones out there this year. It's going to be an interesting weigh-off season.

This needs to be cleared up immediately. Travis is from Minnesota and is a chipmunks fan so you can have him....lol.
I'll stick my neck out a bit and say the WI record could be tough to beat this year due to some pretty crappy weather....at least in my patch....I think....but thought the same at this time last year....lol. I love speculation time :)

Right now there are a lot of pumpkin boats in the Northeast, not because the growers wanted them to be, but because they have been sitting in water for days. I have a pretty well-drained patch but it is waterlogged as hell, the ground just can't take any more. And as I write this, it just started raining again.

Wayne, we sure haven't had the weather for much anything. Had some nice tomatoes but the skin was tough. Pumpkin plants and leaves burnt up. I'll be looking for some shade cloth for next year. Just gets too hot here without it. I've got about five nice ones on the vine, but very few leaves to push them. Still pleased with my learning curve! Watch out 2012! BSD, David

Safety first here always. I'm eying Ron Wallaces pumpkin seeds, when they go on sale. 440 taped, I'm sure it would of blown past that if not for all the rain. My genetics projects I'm working on has alot of 898knauss in it, and I'm adding size to, the 1375Liggett is in it which grew the present biggest pumpkin for size. Thanks
