Good morning everyone. I have been contacted by a design company based in Amsterdam that is working with a company in Toronto Ontario. She has requested that I post this information on the giant pumpkin growing forums to see if she can find an interested grower who may be able to help her out. I explained that the 30th of November is quite late in the season for the GTA area and she is aware she may have to look at a warmer climate, such as Arizona or New Mexico and may have to incur shipping charges to secure a fresh/frozen giant pumpkin at this time of year. However, possibly someone close to the GTA could help out and keep her costs down. Below is the information that she asked me to post both on the GVGO website and the BP website:
"Design company is looking for a big pumpkin for a dinner and design discussion in Toronto, Nov 30"
World-renowned Dutch design company Droog (www.droog.com) is looking for a large pumpkin to feed approximately 75 people at a dinner on November 30th at Gladstone Hotel in Toronto, Ontario.
During the dinner, Canadian designer Cynthia Hathaway will present her concept of a XXL city - a hypothetical future city that is based on growing giant vegetables (as an alternative to globalized food chains inspired by the Inuit practice of sharing large mammals.)
The grower is invited to join the dinner and to participate in the discussion, and will be mentioned in our promotional material (website, press release and upcoming publication). We will pay market price and cover the costs of transportation.
As November 30th is quite late in the season, we are looking for a grower that is willing to save a pumpkin for the diiner!
Pleaase contact Agata Jaworska [email protected]

More information on XXL City by Cynthia Hathaway Inspired by the Inuit pracitce of sharing large mammals within the community, Cynthia Hathaway proposes the production of giant vegetables and animals as the starting point of new city development. An indoor-outdoor facility incorporates growth, processing, cooking, dining, preserving and shopping. Drawing people to live in close proximity to their food source, XXL is an alternative to today's globalized food supply chain.
