With a lifting ring they would be generous enough to let me borrow to lift my pumpkin come weigh-off time? I would be willing to pick up and drop off.

Thanks, Martin

Hey Wayne, Its at about 1000 right now, would have been way, way bigger if not for a stem split then removing half the plant to slow it down. Hoping for around 1200 when all is said and done.

Martin,
What will you be lifting it with? Tripod? Tractor? Forklift?

You could use a sling and just attach all the ends of the sling to the hook on the hoist, no ring needed.

I have a strap harness that p&p sells. I have since bought a pgpga ring so I could fedex you the strap lifter if you want. I think Kevin has moved 1418 with one so it should do the job.

You can make a "lifting ring" by putting a strong rope around the bottom of the pumpkin and using about 6-8 of the adjustable "tie down" straps. They have a hook on each end, hook one end to the rope at the bottom of the pumpkin, up over the pumpkin, through your hoist and down to the other side of the rope around the pumpkin. Do this with as many as you need to make a cradle. Adjust the tension on them all to be about the same. It works the same as a lifting ring, just takes a little longer to do.I do this every year and have had no problem lifing 1000- 1200 pumpkins by myself with a tripod. One of these days I'll actually invest in a lifting ring, I'm sure it's a lot easier!

FYI- make sure you turn the hooks so they don't dig into the bottom of the pumpkin
