I've got a short stem on one of my pumpkins but it has big shoulders that jut out and as a result there isn't any spot that the pumpkin doesn't stick out farther than the tip of the stem. Now the pumpkin is growing on top of the main vine and as a result as the pumpkin grows up the vine won't be able to go up with it and eventually the vine will snap off the stem. My plan is try to move the pumpkin an inch toward the blossom end to get the pumpkin off the vine but this won't be easy to do. Any other good ideas on how to fix this? Weigh-off isn't for another 5 weeks.

I wish now the sucked in stem was my problem. Pumpkin split open today on a deep rib at the top of the pumpkin. At least I don't have to worry about the stem issues anymore. It was to bad too. Still putting on 25 pounds a day and a pretty looking orange pumpkin that was going to beat out my personal best in the next week or two.
