Stay away from 0-0-60 muriate of Potash, use either 0-0-50 Potassium Sulfate or 0-0-25.

0-0-60 is something we dont use any longer. it can be effective but i would not use more than 2 pounds per plant every couple weeks.and thats on a 600 or over sq ft plant.

if your plants are smaller use just 1 pound per plant.

we do use potassium sulfate plus many other growth and disease control sprays and drenches. drenches are bucket then tank mixed ,then pumped out over the plant and rinsed into the soil.

sometimes i think the buckets we mix in will melt ----lol

Tom can correct me if I'm wrong, but the muriate of potash is just potassium chloride. With both Potassium Chloride and Potassium Sulfate you get the essential potassium nutrient. The problem is in the counter ion. I believe excess chlorides are harmful to some benifical bacteria and sulfate are not???

Dave,
The biggest problem I see is the salt index, the Salt index is listed as 116 vs. 46 for potassium sulfate.
The chloride buidlup in the soil isnt great either.
I have talked to growers who have applied 0-0-60 and have had their plants shut down.

Why do they put the salt in it, or is it naturally mined that way????
