Does anyone know if anyone who attended the Indy State Fair was there when the concert stage collapsed because of wind? And are they all ok?

I was there. and it was horrible. We have 5 dead and 45 injured. Some are critical. As a weather spotter, I warned several Indiana State Troopers bout the wind speeds 30mins before it hit. They basically ignored me. All blame goes on people in charge of running the fair and concerts and ISP and IPD. EVERYTHING should have been shut downed and everyone went to their cars or took shelter when the Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued. Instead everyone stayed there, and was not told to leave, more if you dont wanna get wet you can go to the shelters to get out of the rain...All of this could have been avioded if IPD ISP would have taken control. But on the bright side of all things, I never seen so many people rush to the stage and trying to help. I being one of them.

Knowing me, if I had gone to the weighoff yesterday morning I probably would have stayed at the fair the whole day. I might've even attended that concert, as I like some of Sugarland's songs. Maybe a good thing I couldn't attend.

That is awful news - an Ottawa, Ontario festival had a stage collapse on July 1st when Cheap Trick was playing but fortunately there were no serious injuries. That makes two so far this year - I'm sure there are going to be stricter regulations about erecting temporary structures in the upcoming months.

A local woman was killed at a stage collapse at big valley a couple of years ago. Sudden thunderstorms are common and a fact of life. Stages must be built with that in mind. Someone has to start kicking ass. My sympathies go to the families of those involved. I hope someone can stop this from happening again. Go get em..

I hope someone gets their head out of their butt and takes severe weather warnings more seriously to avoid another tragedy like this.

I know there was a warning but this gust hit almost 25 minutes before the actual storm arrived. Very sad for everyone and our prayers go out to the families that lost loved ones and those who were injured.
