Growth of my secondaries came to a screeching halt once my pumpkins were set. As a result, the 2 or 3 secondaries closest to the pumpkin are shorter than I'd like, and secondaries beyond the pumpkin are miniscule. My question is....should I terminate them anyway, or do I leave their growing tips alone to see if they grow out to 12' (the limit in my patch)? July was extremely dry here but we have finally been getting some nice rain in the past week and they seem to have resumed growing VERY slowly.
