I wanted to remind all those aspiring for 1400 and beyond that I created a simple worksheet to compare and track your pumpkin's growth relative to the 10 day benchmarks to achieve 1400lbs.
Please visit: http://www.stcroixgrowers.org/Benchmark_worksheet.pdf
As an ongoing effort to continually improve the accuracy of these milestones, I'm asking growers to retain their growth measurements and submit them to me after the season is complete.
ENJOY!

BTW, for those who are using the sheet, I'd like to solicit your feedback for improvements.
I will try to add a "date" column on there so that a grower can plan and chart calendar dates when interval measurements need to be made.

do weights and averages very by fruit shape? I look at the biggest pumpkins and the tall rounds seem to consistantly weigh heavy and the deflated balloon shaped ones seem to consistantly weigh close to OTT chart or light.

Good point Ben but shape does not make a difference in OTT calculation. Your right about the tall ones, compared to flat ones. The world records are mostly tall and round.
