I have three seperate plants growing, and I noticed tonight that on all three, the main vine looks about half rotten about three inches out of the ground? What is this, and how can I stop it. Have approx. 100 lb. pumpkin on each plant, don't want to lose them now!

carve the rotten stuff away.. then check to see if there is borers in them.. then put captan or sulfer on them to dry them up then put a fan.. you need to get the fungus out.
