I have two females that I have my eye on for keepers both have been pollinated for two days,one is 24ft on the main and one on the first secondary at 10ft.the one at 10ft is the size of a tennis ball and the one on the main is the size of a egg so if the 10ft is faster then cut 24ft,hmmm I thought the bigest grow faster on the main far away from the tap root?

Oh shit I almost forgot the bigger one at 10ft has 5 lobes almost 6 but not formed right looked weird is that ok,the one at 24ft was a perfect 6 lober,I like the shape of both so far and the Positioning is good to so do I keep the faster one with the deformed lobes or the perfect 6 lober at 24ft?

leave them both on till they get basketball sized or bigger.go with the one on the main if they both take.Side vine pumkins are usually bigger early if the vine is terminated.

When you say deformed ,Many times lobes don't look perfect ! I would go with the one at 10 ft ,,As you need to consider when the plant starts to get old & leafs die off. you need Plant to push the pumpkin & the plant might be getting old when needed !! But i would wait until after day 10 after pollination to be sure it has taken & not gonna abort ! You should see it starting to grow faster after day 10 ! Good luck !!

WAIT A MINUTE !! I just read your 10 ft pumpkin is on secondary ,And you say first one!! I should have read more carefully !! That changes things !! Don't you have any on any farther out secondary's ? If possible i would go with one on farther out secondary even if open pollinated , or probably pick the one on the main !!

id pull the plant, sit under a shady tree, near frozen drink in hand. smoke um if ya got um.
if this is not good enough advise go with joes advise. wait until your sure one is set ---then get that drink out? go main vine when-ever possible.
