Does plant size matter as much as we think? Is an 800 sq ft plant that much better then a 400 sq ft plant? I have always wondered. I wonder if other variables are more important like overall plant health, soil composition, weather, or genetics of the seed. It seems that way to me. Could a smaller plant not be prone to disease as much as a larger plant? It seems like once growers started to get plants to 800-1000 sq ft foaming stump and other conditions started to appear more often. Foaming stump kind of sound like more water is being pulled up then the plant can use.

I think it is more about achieving a balance between the variables and the closer you get all of the variables to that state of balance the better the results will be. Any unbalance be it plant size too small or large, too much of some nutrient or lack thereof, temps too hot or too cold, too much water or not enough will all have a detrimental effect on the result and making the correct adjustment to compensate for one lacking variable to get that balance back will help produce the best overall result. (which is where grower experience comes in for quickly finding the missing ingredient and making the correct adjustment so the setback is minimal when things become unbalanced)

All other things being equal, a larger plant is better.
