Hi all- Can I go ahead and deadend all vines at this point? I have my choice pumpkins set (1 per a plant) each at around 14 feet, with 6-7 12 foot secondaries on either side and would like to terminate all vines. On two plants, I would like to cut the vine after the pumpkin to relieve some stress. Any thoughts? Will deadending all vines send a surge to the plant. I consistently keep the soil "wet looking" to prevent an natural surges which may occur from heavy rains.
Thanks, Mike

If you're ready to deadend the vines make sure you only cut 2-3 a day,,,because you will blow your pumpkin. also I'm not a fan of cutting the vine past the fruit if you can make a good S curve you'll be happy you didn't cut the main, But I do no some people that cut the main right by the fruit and it does work,,I'm just not a fan of it..

I'm trying something different for me this year. I had some foaming stump issues last year so to buffer vine pressure I am trying to keep some vines going to absorb extra pressure..don't know if there is any truth to my theory but had to try something..mark
