I have one pumpkin set but still have two more to pollinate just to see if they grow faster..Can I still give her some seaweed till they open or should I just use water? the females are the size of a blueberry now and I still have some time before they open...my longest secondarys are 10ft and the main is 17-19ft when should I pinch em? I was gunna give it one more week then pinch em all,or should I stick to the one pumpkin that is set and pinch all the flowers and side vines and let the pumpkin grow now?

hello thunder, personally, i use seaweed the whole season, in a watering can applied as drench to the main and secondaries, and also as a spray applied to the leaves. of course fungicides, insecticides, and fertilizers also play a part. i don't pinch anything till the pumpkin i have hopefully set, is at least basketball size. then i do pinch all flowers. at the same time, in the past, i have terminated the ends of the vines as well, although this year i may not as i had some secondaries that did not grow, as well as early disease, so all leaves are important to me right now. basically, the vine will eventually stop on its own, from what i have read. generally u are going to get a better pumpkin from your main, although secondaries can produce giant pnkins. as for the pnkin growing slower cause the plant is still growing, once again, i wouldn't do any terminating unless your absolutely sure u have a set pnkin. i have a small patch as well. in the past when i have determined, to the best of my ability, that i got one that will grow big, i have terminated all the ends of the vines and eliminated all flowers. with the season waning, you'll have to decide. and the vines on the grass? my very first year sounds similar to u. i removed the grass where the vine wanted to go, dug down at least a foot, amended the soil, buried the vine. the leaves from these will help power the plant. good luck
