Is it ok to nip a main vine after you have a nice pumpkin set and growing? And after I cut it do I bury the end that I cut? Because any pumpkin that grows below the one thats set and growing big just dies off. Thanks alot for any help.

It is OK to cut it off if you want. The vine will fizzle past the pumpkin if you do not bury it. But if you have the room start to bury the main vine a couple feet past the pumpkin. Just in case you get stump rot or disease so you have enough roots to keep it going.

The vine past the pumpkin will stop growing or get a nutrient deficiency kind of look. The pumpkin takes up most of the water and nutrients. The vine past the pumpkin if it is not rooted in will fizzle because the water and nutrients are not sufficient to continue growth at a normal rate. In the past I have noticed this when I have not buried the main vine after the pumpkin. If you bury the vine it will be able to get enough water and nutrients to continue growing well.

As long as you have an S curve in the vine you do not need to cut it.

Ok Its not a perfect S Curve in it..The steam on its surprisingly long. Seems to have pleanty of room to grow. And the vine past it is about 10-15 feet long.

Yes bury vine after pumpkin for a long ways if you want 15 ft maybe< Do not cut leaves or anything , At the end just cut it off ! I like to not bury any fresh cut vines a disease could get into cut , you will need to cross some sticks to hold vine down as the end of vine will grow upwards , Leave the end out of soil it will be ok !
