I've been overwhelmed with work lately, so I haven't had much time to check the site. However, last evening I did something.
I thought I would test the milk myth, just for fun. I added a gallon and a half of water to a gallon of whole milk. Added a cup of mollasses, a cup of Fish/Kelp and a cup of Bayer Tree and Shrubs.
Then I soil drenched 14 plants with it. This morning there a lot of dead insects around my plants. Especially house flys.
I don't have a major fly problem, but I know dairy farmers do. Maybe they wouldn't want to set it out in pans for animals to drink. But maybe drench the soil around the barn and their manure pile. Just thought I'd share it because fly are hard to kill.

So...what milk myth did you test...guess I'm confused.
I know some growers use a weaker solution sprayed on the leaves for powdery mildue....but in this case...what do you think the milks role in your dead bugs?
When I drench systemics, I add fish & kelp as I have been told that it assists with immediate uptake by the roots but the other stuff is new to me.

Don't tell anyone your dumping milk into the soil. The EPA has milk as a hazardous material now. Farmers can't dump milk anymore.

maybe the flies was attracted to the now, smelly rotten spoiled milk?.. I wonder if the rotten milk will do anything to the roots once it starts decaying? It cant be good for the plant can it?
Can you give me a quick hypothesis as to why you would want to do this experiment anyway?..LOL

Never heard anyone talking about houseflies as problems in the patch. How do they harm a plant exactly?
