cut the main vine right after my pumpkin.can i cut it all at once or should i cut it over a couple days?

why cut it so soon.......most let main grow for a few weeks just in case of an abort or fruit

Steve Connolly and Chris Stevens let their main vines grow 30 feet beyond their fruit last year but I suppose you have a good reason for cutting your main vine.
I was advised last year to cut culls and vines 1/3 of the way over 3 days to avoid a growth surge to the kept fruit. Being cautious, I'll do that this year.

i have limited space so i have to cut after the pumpkin.thanks for the info steve.

when i have cut the main, ive always done it in one shot an inch or two from stem.

Like pumpkin jam says. I already have two of six mAin plants terminated. If you wait too long you are wasting energy.

Every time I have terminated a main vine I have had a foaming stump...this year no mains will be terminated...
