What is the hardest part about summer family vacation? Screaming kids in the car? High gas prices? Tourist traps? Hell no! Its the prospect of leaving my pumpkin plants to fend for themselves for two weeks.

Leaving tomorrow to spend two weeks in Colorado. I've got two plants with newly pollinated females, and a local first year grower coming over to take care of watering. Anybody have any special practices to help your pumpkin plants make it a week or two while you're gone on vacation?

That sounds cool! We're going to be staying in Loveland, but will be spending a couple of days around Denver. I would love to see how mile high pumpkins are grown :-)

Thanks Marley. The hardest part is going to be driving across Nebraska on I-80. That always sucks. Makes the Coors beer tour sound really good!
