What is the importants of the day 10 measurement and what should it be if I want something over 1000 lbs?

In my opinion, the benchmarks get growers all worked up for nothing and make a lot of growers push their fruit until they pop. You would be far better off looking for growers in your area and having them answer a few questions throughout the season, maybe you can visit their patch or vice versa.

Don't worry about day 10 numbers. Day 20 are better to go by.

This is a concern of mine as well. Not having had a good ag plant going before this i am not sure what to expect. My 1st pollination 6/25 is 10 in. around toady (day 5). The stem actually seems to be growing more than the fruit.

Might be more important not to be messing around with a 1-10 day old fruit. I know they are very easy to mark and scratch at this time. The skin is very soft. Those little small marks at day 10 turn into giant scars at day 60-90.

I say don't worry about day ten measurments, if the hog is putting on weight then good. i would only worry about the growth of a young fruit only after making comparisons on which fruit to cull down to.

putting a tape around a young fruit.......under 20 days may end up being a sad day at harvest time........why? any tiny little mark on a young fruit will turn into a big ugly scar as fruit matures
