This is my first year growing. I'm wondering how to water. I'm watering in the morning instead of night to prevent the white powdery mildew and other diseases. Do I need to water at night too with these hot days?? Also, when is it enough water, when it starts to pool? Thanks in advance.

We are definitely not on clay. I'm watering with the hose at the moment until I get my sprinklers up and running. I do have a good soil with compost so it is holding the moisture well. How far do you dig down to see if it is moist because obviously the top will be dry in the afternoon with this heat. How far does the root system go down? If I am doing overhead how long do you recommend??

on hot days here in western south dakota like today it is 85° out, the plants get watered in the morning, again around noon, then again around 7pm. If yur climate is similar to ours here, the humidity during the summer which seems to have finally arived is around 20% during the day and 30% at night. with that being said the only time e have to deal with powdery mildew is late season, (late august), then we start with the milk, 9 parts water to 1 part milk 2 times a week
